I always encourage my brides to do a portrait session a day or two before the actual wedding. That way we can time our portraits to capture the best light of the day, and everyone is a lot more relaxed than on the day of. The emotions are different — you’re anxious, excited, maybe a little bit nervous — and I think it’s a perfect time to take a couple hours out of your (probably stressful) week to just love each other. Some couples choose not to, because they want to wait until the day of to see each other in their wedding clothes. I completely understand this sentiment, but if you want to incorporate a first look into your portrait session I am more than happy to!
This session with James & Shannon a couple days before their wedding was so much fun. We got to know each other before their wedding day (it was the first time we met in person!) and I think we all enjoyed ourselves more on the day of knowing we already had some beautiful pictures of what is most important — their LOVE!
